Fraudulent claim about MMR and Autism – the data was faked

The news is out, Andrew Wakefield’s study that claimed to prove a link between the MMR vaccine and Autism was not just shoddy, he actually faked the data, so it was outright fraud.

Why would he have done this, where was his integrity? It turns out that he was being paid by a law firm that was planning to sue the vaccine makers, apparently this sleazeball received more than 435,000 pounds, so quite clearly this was all about money. In defense, Wakefield now claims that “Big Pharma” is out to get him.

Here is a CNN video on all this …

The truly tragic fallout from all this is that the now-discredited paper panicked many parents and led to a sharp drop in the number of children getting the vaccine that prevents measles, mumps and rubella, as a result there are dead children who would be alive today if this had not happened.

Wakefield, who has blood on his hands, is in complete denial … here he is being interviewed and called a liar to his face …

So there you have it … according to Wakefield, its all lies. So who are you going to believe, the guy who got paid half a million to create some results by some lawyers, or the British Medical Journal who have extensively analysed it all, and declared it a fraud … (I suspect you can guess the correct answer) … for completeness, here is the link to the BMJ.

You can also read more about this on CNN here.

  1. Oh and least you wonder … Wakefield is no longer a Dr .. his right to claim that has been stripped from him.

  2. The MMR-Autism link is fraud … Wakefield faked the data … thats been proven, and thats fraud. The guy is a complete scumbag, he simply took money in return for faking it all.

You ask me to trust you!!! Nope, not a chance … I’d rather trust the actual evidence presented by the BMJ. If you wish to claim a conspiracy, you will need to come up with real evidence and not just wave your arms about declaring “trust me”

  3. The MMR-Autism link is not fraud. They’re demonizing Dr. Andrew Wakefield to protect the big pharmaceutical companies. Trust me on this one.
