Weird Religious News – Migrants and the Midterms

This week’s selection of weird religious news was of course sourced from election week. I’ve split it into both pre and then post election items.

Why?

Well basically because the things that were frantically important prior to the election, such as migrants, suddenly ceased in importance once the election was done. Funny that.

Side Note: The cartoonist Rob Rogers who drew the above was fired from his newspaper for the “crime” of criticising Trump. He has a book of cartoons that is soon coming out you might enjoy. Go here to pre-order. (I don’t get any $$ for promoting it, and have not been asked to do so, I simply think that if you are reading this then you might like it. For non US folks, be aware that the postage is high).

What happened during the past Election Week?

Prior to the Election

In the days just prior to the election, Migrants were a very hot topic amongst the religious right-wing, (but the moment the election happens, the topic suddenly gets dropped like a hot potato) …

“Kill all the Males” was apparently a serious proposal from this GOP State Rep who embraces the Bible as a policy text …

The theme that all Democrats are evil bubbled to the surface …

Using the supernatural to rig an election was also a thing …

If you are not Christian then apparently you are depraved …

And of course Trump is still the Messiah …

Some really really don’t understand what democracy actually means (the pure stupidity of this next item is jaw-dropping stuff) …

After The election

Just after it was clear how the vote was going, we get this …

Denial and rejection of reality is a persistent theme with these folks so this really should not be a surprise …

… and continuing with the theme of rejecting facts and reality, we also have this …

There was also this for the new “Acting” AG …

… and apparent loosing is all part of God’s plan …

The election did bring much good news. That includes this …

  • Kim Davis, Anti-Gay Clerk from Rowan County (KY), Has Lost Her Re-Election Race … (It really could not have happened to a better person, this is a well deserved loss)

Anyway, now that the election is done, we can get back to the normal weirdness – which is essentially blatant hypocrisy as practised by the right-wing God-squad …

Oh yes, one other bit of election news. Parkland Survivors Offer “Thoughts and Prayers” to Failed NRA-Backed Candidates …
